The MX32 Controller

The production of the first batch of the "Epoch 2010" will be started soon; delivery is planned for July 2010.

For this first batch, the previously announced price will be:

     370

Note: Due to substantial increases in costs (caused by the shortage of components and the decline in the Euro), the price, after this first batch, may be raised by at least 10%.

Since the MX10 command station is not yet available, the MX32 can be used as follows :-

- for ZIMO Users, that already have the MX1, MX1Hs or MX1EC, they can extend the existing system with the MX32 controller, (or with mutiple devices).

- for ZIMO Users, that already have the MX31ZL central controller, they can extend this system with the MX32 and can use RailCom features in the MX32, which is an advantage over the MX1 users.

- for ZIMO Beginners:            LIMTED SPECIAL OFFER

Startset with MX1EC + MX32 for 590 (RRP).

To support this option, a small batch of MX1EC command stations will be produced.

Note on this offer: If later, the MX10 command station is purchased, the MX1EC can be used on a test/workshop track, or sold on Ebay to users who have purchased controllers from the previous generation.

For this first batch of the MX32, the software is and the features which are included are far from complete; in many areas, the new product is already much more powerful than the previous generation (especially the graphical user interface), but some planned features are missing.

However, the installation of new software updates is very simple, using a USB stick, the new version can be downloaded from the ZIMO website and then attached to the controller. No online connection is required during the update process.

Here, in the right column, can be seen some of examples of the screens from the MX32, to illustrate the possibilities for operation and all of these, except for the last image, will be available from the start.

In the status "FAHR" (or DRIVE), the current state is shown in the top left corner of the screen, there are different screen layouts selectable by touching the image - large image and locomotive speedometer, or small loco image, speedometer and key symbols, or loco name only and address especially large (not shown here), or very high contrast display for outdoor use (not shown here).

In the 1GB memory, a great number of loco pictures can be stored and indexed by country, operator, and motive power type, and more can be downloaded from the website and added to the internal memory. User created images can added and we expect that the ZIMO user community will add to the ZIMO library so that, eventually, a fairly complete library can be offered.

With "RailCom" , it will be possible to display more information, in addition to the speedometer - an ammeter, an indicator bar showing the calculated stopping distance, a field for text feedbacks, among other information. The necessary "RailCom" detector becomes available with the MX10 but is not included in the MX1EC.

To display the speedometer, various designs with different colours, outline drawing or flat disc, are available, and these can be selected when the mode is "ADR FZ TACHO". In the case that RailCom is not available (from the decoder or the command station), the relation between speed step and actual speed can be defined.

In the "ADR FUSYMB"  mode the individual function icons, or small pictures are assigned, so that, in the "FAHR" mode, the function of the keys is easier to recognize. There are several types of symbol which can be used to in different display modes, on a key or in full screen etc.

In the "SERV PROG" programming mode (on the programming track) and "OP PROG" (on the main track, Programming on the Main -"PoM") it is possible to use the command line, clip board and CV sets, to program CVs in locos in a user-friendly way, with graphical assisted setting of certain CVs.

Note: The adjacent screen shots appear a bit blurry, although on the MX32, the display is a very high resolution (320 x 240 pixels on 2.4 inch screen), which is a higher density than a computer screen, almost double (320 x 240 on the MX32 and 206 x 152 in the same size on the PC).
