ZIMO System Update MX33

Software update for the controllers MX33, MX33FU

Like every ZIMO system device, the MX33 controller has a USB socket for software updates (and for loading other data). There, a memory stick is plugged in which contains a container file with the new software version for the MX33. So far, this container file contains ONLY THE MX33 UPDATE. Only in later versions will the container file also contain updates for all system devices. For an MX10 update, the MX10-MX32 update is therefore still used.

The container file is downloaded from this page as a .zip file; this must be unzipped to obtain the actual container file, a .zsb file, which is saved on the USB flash drive.

The USB flash drive with the container file for the update is inserted into the controller during operation, i.e. the device is on, but the trains on the layout better be at a standstill.

After inserting the USB flash drive, a list for selecting the desired activity is displayed, this is done by using the scroll wheel.
The following item is usually carried out:
  "Automatic MX33 Update", start the process by pressing the A key.

During the update process (which may take many minutes because of the graphics and photos to be loaded), the USB flash drive or the power supply must not be removed under any circumstances. At the end, you will be prompted to "Remove USB flash drive".
The unit restarts automatically and is ready for operation again after the following start-up.
