Loudspeakers for ZIMO sound decoders

All ZIMO decoders have the capacities to use 8 ohm speakers, most of them (except the miniature types such as MX648, MX649 and MX658) can use 4 ohm speakers or 2 * 8 ohm speakers connected in parallel.

The sound decoder for "small scales" (MX645, MX644, MX648, MX658N18, ...and MS450, MS440, MS480...) work with a 5 V supply for the sound amplifier (miniature types create 1W audio power, the others 3W audio power); large scale sound decoders (MX696, MX697, MX699 and MS990), work with 10 V supply (and 10 W audio power at 4 ohms), whereby the speaker has a much higher load.

Therefore ZIMO large scale decoders (10 V) should ONLY use Speakers > 3 W, NOT, however, the typical N- and 00/H0 speakers which are 0.5 W to 2 W.

ZIMO special types (marked in red): these are the miniature rectangular speakers and "Dumbo" speaker with special resonance bodies and are produced in cooperation with ZIMO business partners (with these resonator bodies normally not commercially available); they offer excellent sound quality, considering the size.

The other listed speakers (Round Speakers and VISATON speakers) are standard types: in the relevant market, there are many other types that can be used.
