Software update for StEin modules from USB flash drive:

For the update, a .zip file is downloaded from this page below, then unpacked and the files contained in the zip (configuration, sound, ...) are saved on a USB stick (root). Among the files there is usually at least a .bin file (the software itself for UPDATE) and usually also a .cff file (standard collection of the finished configurations).

Typ: .bin file .svf file .cfg file .cff file .snd file
code letter: „b“ „u“ „c“ „F“ „n“
Content: new software XILINX data Configuration ready-made config Sound Samples

The USB stick is plugged into the StEin to initiate the software update and loading of data. Either this is done (as SINGLE UPDATE and LOAD) on the module to which the USB stick is plugged, or (as MULTI UPDATE and LOAD) automatically on all StEin modules connected by the CAN bus at the same time.
. The basic procedure for this is as shown below (see operating manual for a complete description with all options and messages):

  • after inserting the USB stick, the display shows, for example, "2b"; this means 2 files present, the first is a .bin file,
  • key-3 -> loading the file (in the case of the .bin file this means software UPDATE) into the StEin with the USB stick,or
key-4 -> Loading the file into ALL connected StEin modules (in the case of the .bin file this means MULTI-UPDATE),
    • for example, "23" (number of modules now loaded) appears on the display,
    • Once again, press-4 -> confirmation and continue
  • if successful, the display will now show (in this example) "1F"; this means there is still one file available, and this is a .cff file,
  • key-3 -> loading the file (in this case the .cff-file - collection of ready-made configurations) into the StEin, or
key-4 -> loading the file into ALL connected StEin modules (MULTI-LADEN),
    • for example, "23" (number of modules now loaded) appears on the display,
    • Once again, press-4 -> confirmation and continue
  • If successful (all files on the USB stick have been loaded) the display shows:
    • "LF" (for SINGLE-UPDATE and -LOAD), resp.
"AF" (for MULTI-UPDATE and -LOAD, on the module with USB stick) and "LF" (on the connected modules).

CHANGES

Expansion boards:

  • Extension of ZCAN commands and queries
  • Implementation of the STM32 I2C bootloader for performing updates
  • Implementation of I2C control commands

Miscellaneous:

  • Extension/improvement of the interface to the I2C data buses in the Stein: Signal boards and expansion boards can now be used more effectively.
  • Regular status messages (status + active addresses) are now sent every 5 seconds for occupied track sections via CAN bus: More stable operation with ESTWGJ
  • Alignment of the implementation of the ‘on-track search’ to the current status
  •  The forwarding of Railcom raw data (ZCAN 0x06.0x1E) via the CAN bus is now no longer filtered in the case of ID 0 datagrams. Correction for PoM CV reading error with ZCS
  • Implementation of a HW watchdog function: After establishing the CAN connection, a watchdog is active. This restarts the module if a ping message is not sent for longer than 15 seconds.
  •  APUZWAKO parameter for setting turnouts via Stein inputs has been implemented.
  • Corrections in USB reinitialisation after error states.
