OPERATING
TRAINS BY NAME The MX21 now backs up its claim of being one of the best cabs available: Operating trains using names of locos and trains that you assign, instead of hard to remember decoder address numbers, is now possible with SW-Version 20 or 21 (End of November 2004). The picture above shows a typical MX21display while in operation: the name of the activated loco "KROKODIL" (= "Crocodile", a typical SWISS engine), below its actual decoder address "2543", the other loco address "T 4264" (without assigned name in this example) that is double headed with this loco, is shown in the bar above, the current speed step "121" and the fast clock in the upper right corner.
Names can not only be assigned to single locos but also to consists (aka MU'ing), accessories and in the future to automatic operations (ABA) and turnout ladders as well. Search the (virtually unlimited) list of names by entering letters or scrolling with the speed slider. System-wide update of all local name lists (in cabs) through a planned global names list (in command station), with provisions for: data back-up, exchange of command station, using cabs with other command stations (Club layouts !) and so on. This picture illustrates the display of a train pulled by two locos in a consist. The trains name is "Eurocity" and the names of the locos in this consist are "Taurus" and "ÖBB-1042". "31" is the actual speed setting. A further
enhancement with a future software version is planned to facilitate the
programming of configuration variables. It is a fact that identical or
similar CV settings are required for many locos on a layout (top speed,
momentum,...), often divided into groups (heavy goods trains, fast
passenger service, switchers....): the CV-Set concept of the MX21
manages and uploads complete CV sets, later it will also be possible to
automatically copy the CV settings from one loco to another.
